Norway

The tragedy in Norway is another example of the danger of viewing the world in terms of “Clash of Civilizations.” It becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. Instead of acknowledging the give and take between different cultures and how fluid culture truly is, which serves to blur the distinctions, this notion draws false lines of division. Immigration to Europe or the U.S. isn’t viewed as a positive opportunity for progress, but a threat to our “civilization.”
